Young women admire prominent female stars, singers and actresses. When these celebrities undergo breast cutting, it sends the message that one's own breasts are inadequate by modern standards of beauty, and that slicing them up and reshaping them into unnatural, grotesque shapes is normal behavior.

Similarly, young men grow up seeing media images of horrifically altered females, whose breasts bear no resemblance to the shape and consistency of normal breasts. They assume that this is normal, and when they encounter women with beautiful, natural breasts, they assume something is wrong with them. This further reinforces the message to women that mutilating their own breasts is the only way they will be perceived as attractive.

You can help CEFMM break this destructive spiral and raise awareness of the widespread practice of breast cutting by sending a "Mammary Mutilation Alert!"
